  1. India finished fourth at the 23rd Commonwealth Games with 39 medals — 13 gold, 17 silver and 9 bronze; Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini felicitated 24 state athletes with cash awards totalling ₹13.97 crore at Panchkula.
  2. The Ancient Buddhist Site of Sarnath was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List at the 48th World Heritage Committee session in Busan, taking India to 45 UNESCO World Heritage properties — sixth globally and second in Asia-Pacific.
  3. On 26 Aug 2026, a flash flood in Nepal — suspected to be a Glacial Lake Outburst Flood triggered by a Tibet earthquake — killed nearly 100 people and left over 750 missing, including around 133 Indian nationals; India dispatched 10 tonnes of HADR and medicines by IAF C-130J, NDRF was placed on high alert, and PM Narendra Modi assured Nepal PM Balendra Shah of all possible help.

The 7th India-Morocco Joint Commission was held in Morocco on 24-25 Aug 2026, co-chaired by MoS Jitin Prasada and Moroccan Secretary of State Omar Hejira; bilateral trade is about USD 4 billion, both sides agreed to double trade in five years and mark 70 years of diplomatic ties in 2027, with the 8th session in New Delhi.
  7. At the India-Japan Startup Roundtable in Tokyo on 26 Aug 2026, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said India is the world's third-largest startup ecosystem with nearly 250,000 startups and proposed a four-pillar framework plus a second Fund of Funds of about US$1 billion for deep-tech enterprises.
